Winter redfish and trout bite is hot!

Winter redfish and trout bite is hot!

It's a new year, and the water is very cold! It has been hovering right around 53 degrees in the Beaufort, Broad and Coosaw Rivers for a number of weeks now. In the LowCountry, consistently cold water temperatures like that mean first and foremost that the redfish are stacked up. In most cases they are staying in slightly deeper water, which offers them a more consistent water temperature, and now that the bait has for the most part left you'll find that the trout bite has also changed and gone to deeper water.
